MISSION

Ask for help in three power authorities, in the three levels of public administrative the measures needed to reduce accidents, injuries, traffic deaths as any kind of violence, and besides the psychological support for poor people, victims and parents.

Who we are and what we do

AVITRAN – Traffic Victims Association, is a organization non Governmental, without lucrative ends and is acting for 14 years in a national amplitude together with three power authorities and public administration levels, fight for measures to revert the dramatic situation that is shown in accidents statistics in Brazil and its consequences – about 50000 deaths, 500000 accidents and 300000 wounded, with annual cost of US $ 10 billions.

The Avitran elaborate its actions based in technical and scientific help of CEPAT – Psychology Traffic Applied Center, result of around 30 years of studies, researches and services in the traffic behavior area, whose work is pioneer.

Completing 10 years, we created the first Traffic Victims Reintegration Center, giving psychological support to needed people, in order to reintegrate in a useful life and professional, reducing trauma impacts and redirecting people that become physical deficient to a new professional activity. The next step is to create a Physical Rehabilitation Center that is really needed in this sector, as the realization of educational projects in the whole country about traffic education, since the high school until College. In a long stated period, we pretend to realize a job that is similar in Japan, with an organization for traffic victims.

For those projects, we need the support from civil society and private sector, from donations, sponsorship and volunteers, in order to continue our projects execution.

The Avitran is legally constituted of States, Registers, Directory and Counselors, formed by qualified professional people and expertise in community activities, having a volunteer’s assistant’s team to execute the projects.

Many organizations and entities related to traffic area help and incentive our institution. We receive invites to talk about our experience in important scientific events, as Congress, Symposiums, Debates about the traffic question in Brazil and in the world, always in a multidiscipline view that is important to our work, and without that is not possible to understand and send solutions to the National Security and Public Healthy Epidemic as in Brazil as in the whole world.

This position was suggested by us to a Health World Wide Organization for some years that recognized, applauded and is taking the measures in this case.
We would like to have a personal contact and have all people as a partner to help in the goals shown, since our job reaches around of 170 millions of Brazilians.

Because of that we would like to have you all, as our slogan: “Help to preserve life.”

Victims Traffic Accident Association

The traffic, beyond being considered by us a National Security subject that can be defined, today, as a World Wide public health epidemic question, continues to provoke genocide, killing and incapacitating annually millions of people in the world and, particularly in Brazil.

The Brazilian Traffic Code brought some advances, but the disastrous situation stays. Because many of dispositives foreseen in CTB, still not adopted, as the case of Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV), that continues being argued by politicians, and no decision was made until now.

While this, Brazil, loose more than four thousand lives a year and produce thousands of wounded in our free ways that could be safe by a simple preventive measure, which would hinder that high risk vehicles would circulated. After all, circulate with vehicles in such a bad condition is the same as have a defective
weapon that could go off accidentally.

With the finality to clarify what means ITV, and the benefits it brings to our population and to our country, the Traffic Victims Association, together with other entities represented by important sectors of the civil society, has decided to edit this booklet. It aims to alert the necessity of immediate adoption of vehicle inspection demanded by CTB, and make to result in a political decision able to save the life of thousand of Brazilians, that are, as fact, the most true patrimony of our nation.

Alerting that we could not ignore other necessary measures to reduce the accidents provoked by other causes and we are acting to charge from authorities.

Reintegration Center of Accident Victims and Violent Traumas

São Paulo has a Reintegration Center of Accident Victims and Violent Traumas, the first in Latin America, that has the finality to support psychologically traffic accidents victims and traumatically events as assaults, kidnappings, rapes, explosions, fires, air disasters and others.

The idealizer of this project, Dr. Salomão Rabinovich, president of AVITRAN – Traffic Victims Association and CIPAT director – Traffic Applied Psychological Center, counts with the help of volunteers to recover people that have an aspect of moral death – post trauma stress suffered by violent acts that isolates victims around the world.

*The meetings are relized at Avenida dos Eucaliptos 556, Moema, São Paulo – Brazil.
