PSYCHOSOCIAL ASPECTS OF SLEEP DISTURBS IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, WORK AND HOME AND SLEEP HYGIENE
Researches show that 70% of diary activities are realized by people without consciousness of moves that execute, and this increases the accidents risks in many ways: domestics, work and car accidents.
Brazil is the champion of this kind of accident according to the statistics, the sleep disturbs are into its causes.
The Obstructive Sleep Apnea and the Narcoleptic, considered serious, impediment for people who drive, appear as a common cause in the car accidents facts.
I've been studying the traffic behavior and signing the authorities and many segments of society about the importance of sleep hygiene as a preventive factor of psychological disturbs and the accidents in general.
The sleep has its own architecture, it is subdivided in stages, that should be completed each night, to assure the rest and organism restoration.
Diary stress, tensions, the fibromialgias, in special in women, are factors that comes first that sleeplessness, and it influences in sleep fragmentation and in the presleeplessness - movements disorder related to sleep. The fatigue, irritability and even the depression are related, many times, to fragmented sleep, harming the personal relationships and changing people emotional balance.
Researches made in England, in the beginning of 90's, showed the social cost of 27 billions sterling pounds a year, with sleeplessness problem.
My proposal is to have more severity in giving drivers license, and that the traffic authorities pay special attention in psycho technical test, including the possible sleep alterations and the same is included in the Driver License renewal, and if necessary use the polisleepness exam.
These are efficient measures in reduce accidents and preserve lives mostly; and in reducing the public costs with victims.
Advances in this way are occurring; equipments were developed in order to evaluate the sleep alterations from pupils, like as alcohol checker, in case of use of alcohol.
Presented in the Sleep Paulista Congress, is like a machine, that is easy to use, not needed more than some minutes to evaluate and with a software to get the data to understand the results, and we are getting partnership in order to attend more people.
Finally as a health professional i propose this job that i have been doing in a favor of sleep hygiene, because we are benefiting a big part of Brazilian population that needs to improve the sleep quality.
